Moroccan Summer House

THE BRIEF

It was clear the space needed a full rethink.

The aim was to create something deeply personal, reflecting the client’s love of travel and rich, opulent colour.

A Moroccan theme—drawn from his many trips to Marrakesh—set the direction.

THE DETAILS

A vibrant teal exterior shade from The Little Greene Paint Company signalled the transformation, while jewel tones wrapped the interior in warmth.

A Moroccan stencil became the starting point for bespoke detailing: scanned, upscaled and CNC-cut into MDF panels, then meticulously hand-painted in antique gold. These were paired with Moorish-inspired joinery and layered, luxurious upholstery.

The seating was cleverly designed to convert into a double bed for long summer evenings, while a dramatically draped ceiling added softness and authenticity—no small task, requiring generous amounts of fabric and a very talented upholsterer.

The final touch was authentic Moroccan lighting and accessories.

THE RESULT

The summer house was reimagined as a tranquil, atmospheric retreat—an inviting escape for enjoying the stunning garden, whether with a glass of wine in hand or a warming cup of Moroccan apple tea.

CLIENT WORDS

Lisa has been my interior designer for the last four years, during which time she has completed a wide range of projects.

She has a bold, creative eye and can be relied on to provide a unique personal design. She loves colour, so give her a wide berth if your preference is monochrome minimalism. Her knowledge of materials, products and suppliers is impressive.

She is also selective in her choice of tradesmen. Woe betides any client who challenges her choices!

Over the years I have learned it is wiser (and safer) to defer to her excellent taste and unerring judgement which always produces results far better than I anticipated.

I have long lost count of the accolades, as her finished work invariably draws compliments from even the most discerning and demanding of guests.

Keeping her to budget requires more strength than I could ever muster, but her value long outlasts her prices.
