Kitchen Refurbishment

THE BRIEF

After careful consideration, the decision was made to refurbish rather than replace the existing kitchen.

The cabinetry was simply too well-made to justify ripping it out, and redirecting the budget allowed us to invest in statement lighting and a standout dining table and chairs instead

THE DETAILS

Retaining the original marble worktops naturally informed the colour palette.

A rich green from Benjamin Moore’s Scuff-X range was chosen for its depth and exceptional durability, making it ideal for interior woodwork.

The entire kitchen was repainted, including the island and a freestanding Welsh dresser, and finished with contemporary black knurled hardware.

A Black Edition by Romo wallcovering was introduced behind the Welsh dresser, adding depth, texture and a quiet layer of drama to the scheme.

The final touch was the lighting — hand-blown pendants from Rothschild & Bickers, a long-time wish-list brand, and worth every second of the wait.

An Oxford-based artisan river table maker was commissioned to create a 2.5-metre walnut dining table and a matching coffee table for the snug. Featuring a striking green glass river through the centre, paired with walnut-backed chairs, the result delivers instant wow factor.

THE RESULT

A reimagined space, that feels sociable, characterful and unapologetically bold: a hardworking family space with serious style credentials

CLIENT WORDS

“Lisa has been my interior designer for the last four years, during which time she has completed a wide range of projects.

She has a bold, creative eye and can be relied on to provide a unique personal design. She loves colour, so give her a wide berth if your preference is monochrome minimalism.

Her knowledge of materials, products and suppliers is impressive. She is also selective in her choice of tradesmen. Woe betides any client who challenges her choices!

Over the years I have learned it is wiser (and safer) to defer to her excellent taste and unerring judgement which always produces results far better than I anticipated.

I have long lost count of the accolades, as her finished work invariably draws compliments from even the most discerning and demanding of guests.

Keeping her to budget requires more strength than I could ever muster, but her value long outlasts her prices.”
