Master Bedroom

A master bedroom for an existing client. The brief? Well, there wasn’t one apart from “the fireplace has to stay put.” Great, I had carte blanche to come up with a scheme! I wanted to create something masculine and stylish, but with a softness to it (not unlike my client). 

I started with the fabric – a striped, lush velvet for the curtains and upholstered pelmets. The fabric had an unusual shade of inky blue in one of stripes, which I colour-matched for the paint on the fireplace wall. It took ages to find the exact colour from Benjamin Moore. We installed wall lights on either side of the bed and on the fireplace wall to create ambience, which is very important in a bedroom. It’s all about the mood lighting. 

I went for a bespoke bed and headboard upholstered in fabrics which complemented the curtains and pelmets, specially commissioned leather and brass bedside tables and a chest of drawers from Julian Chichester. Add in a few carefully chosen accessories and plants, et voila!
